Located in the heart of Old Montréal near Place Royale, Le Petit Hôtel is a charming boutique hotel with 28 rooms. It was built inside two existing four-storey cut stone buildings dating back to the mid-nineteenth century.

The interior part of the project involved completely gutting the two buildings, meeting specific architectural standards for exits and earthquake resistance, adding a floor to one of the buildings, and designing the rooms, hotel service spaces, and commercial rental spaces.

Work on the building’s envelope included the demolition of the exit stairway on the side wall; the renovation of the stone and brick façades; the replacement of all windows and doors, while keeping their original design and material (wood); the restoration of architectural elements on the façades (cornices, corbels, stone cladding, etc.); and the installation of a standing seam sheet, metal roofs and dormer windows, elements that evoke the old tin roofing design.

Intensive archeological excavations of the subsoil revealed several artifacts dating back to the foundation of Ville-Marie and the Indigenous peoples.
