Last Friday, September 17 marked the top off ceremony for Les Appartements Dorchester.
Did you know that this ceremony takes its origins in a cult of trees over 1,000 years old? An old Scandinavian religious rite consisting in placing a tree or a branch on top of a new building to soothe the spirits of trees cut down during its construction. This ritual then migrated to England and Northern Europe before coming to the Americas. In North America, we generally lay a pine tree during a ceremony with the project team.
